It’s always the little differences that make me laugh when I’m abroad. Like, for the first day that I was in the lab here in Lund I couldn’t get any of my formulas to work in my Excel spreadsheet. Then I realized that the computers are programmed to recognize decimals using ”,” not ”.” !!!!!! That drove me crazy. This morning, I was late for our field excursion to Staffanstorp WWTP (waste water treatment plant) because I got on the bus going in the wrong direction around the route loop! Maybe that’s why the bus driver kept looking at me funny through his rear view mirror?? Luckily I didn’t get totally lost! Traveling abroad can be so humbling in some ways.
