I think I’ve mentioned it in previous posts, but I thought it deserved its own post. In the US, pedestrians have the right of way, even if they’re j-walking (crossing the street NOT in a designated cross walk). If you hit them, they will probably sue you broke. Here in Sweden, it seems that pedestrians and bicycles don’t have the right of way. I think Swedish drivers are aggressive, or at least they brake very hard, so sometimes you don’t even know if they will stop. Going to school in the freezing cold it’s us, the pedestrians and cyclists, that have to wait for cars to stop even though they are in their heated vehicles. Sometimes this injustice and lack of consideration makes me really mad and I have to restrain myself from shouting rude things or keying every car as it drives by (although I have never tried it). So, car drivers, please have pity on us pedestrians and let us cross when we need.
