I’ve just left a small but fun birthday party and the band Miike Snow, pronounced ’Mike Snow,’ has popped up on my iTunes playlist. If your name is Sylvia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNy8EMNrgUM) or you like smooth electronica with good lyrics, you’d like them. Their show at the VEGA music hall (http://vega.dk/arrangementer/#event=3019) across the water in Copenhagen was great- for me this mainly means that they played well and sang together. It’s so disappointing when your favorite artist is really bad live. Anyways, it was a great Wednesday night- the train is only 45 minutes now to CPH central station since the renovations and the show started early around 8pm. The venue itself is nice and sizable but still relatively small for big acts like Maroon 5 (playing today, I think) and Sufjan Stevens (who I’m on the waiting list for ahhhh!!!). It is a 20 minute walk to the venue from the central train station through the/a apparent red-light district, although it was good that there were many kebab/falafel restaurants!
Since I wore three inch platform heels I was mildly crippled for the later part of the evening, but I was glad I did because I was able to see over the tall Nordic people and they helped me try to be intimidating so no one would stand in front of me. This was not a paranoid thought since I usually get stuck standing behind the 40yr old douche-bag businessmen who’re a bit tipsy and too tall. Although this crowd seemed shorter than in Sweden, though they looked much younger… But anyhow, it’s a good venue and maybe has more popular artists than Malmo- it’s a good time despite the expensive train ticket.
