sheep of a kind stick together

- in Nyheter

It’s either sheep or horses or some other farm animal, but hopefully you get the idea.  I feel that there has been a lot of talk (on my part also) on and off the web about how Swedes aren’t friendly and how hard it is to be friends with them.  When I was having lunch the other day at a nation with a friend, some students from their country started talking and they joined them.  It’s fine to speak your own language but they kept doing it for almost the rest of the meal.  Sure, it’s nice to speak your own language, but I thought it was rude, and realized that international students are just as cliquish as Swedes.  Maybe they have a better excuse because they’re in ”unfamiliar surroundings” and whatnot but then you might as well stay home if you’re not going to put yourself out there and make friends from other places (which is always my best and longest lasting thing when abroad).  Or maybe it’s because you can’t speak English that well?  But hanging out with your own language speakers isn’t going to help.  If you don’t make the effort you shouldn’t expect other people to.
